Researchers develop an integrated treatment for veterans with chronic pain and posttraumatic stress
The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have resulted in a growing number of soldiers evacuated to the United States for comprehensive care for physical and psychological trauma. Given the number of physical injuries often experienced by soldiers, it is not surprising that chronic pain is a frequent problem among returning soldiers from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom (OIF/OEF).
Discusses topics related to the military including those related to health issues related to combat and services. Also, provides resources for servicepeople, their families and those that support them.

Guided Imagery as A Relaxation Technique for PTSD
Guided imagery is a relaxation and mental imaging technique shown to be helpful with stress related to symptoms in fibromyalgia and cancer patients. It is currently being studied as an effective therapy for PTSD and thus far, has shown positive results in research studies at Duke University in North Carolina.
